Today, 23 August 2013 is exactly 100 years since the little Mermaid first settled down to her cozy perch in Copenhagen.
When brewer Carl Jacobsen donated her to the city in 1913, he probably didn’t guess that she will become the most popular tourist attraction in the whole country! Now, 75% of all tourists in Copenhagen is known to pay her a visit.
Through the years, the Little Mermaid has lived through various forms of vandalism. However, we are happy to celebrate and report to you today, that she doesn’t look even a day older from the day she was born.
