Just last week, the new Disney movie “FROZEN” got released for the movies in Japan. There is a curious and interesting connection between this animated movie and the Nordic countries, especially Norway!
Here are some examples:
→The snowman character “Olav” shares the same name with the royal family in Norway. There are many other Norwegian names being used in this film, such as Hans and Sven.
→One of the main character, Kristoff strongly resembles the indigenous population in the Nordic countries knows as the Sami. They are known to live mostly in the Northern parts of Scandinavia, and the Red patterned belts, and the pointy reindeer boots are especially characteristic. At the schools in Sami areas, students are seen commonly using these traditional boots when they are outside.

→The architectures that appear in the film is mere copy of many of the real buildings that exist in Norway. For example the Akershus Fortress in Oslo and the ancient Stave Churches. It is very interesting to see the animated version of the famous Wharf known as “Bryggen” in Bergen.
Perhaps you have already seen the movie, but perhaps a second look will reveal even more interesting connections to the Nordic countries.
